Norah Prunty Obituary

Norah (Walsh) Prunty of Pound Ridge, NY most recently of New Rochelle, NY passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020 after a short illness. She was 90 years old. Born on July 8, 1929, in Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland to Daniel and Eileen (Nell Fitzgerald) Walsh, Norah was one of thirteen. Her only surviving sibling is Eileen Sullivan of London, England. At eighteen years of age, Norah emigrated initially to Boston and then on to New York where she met Thomas Prunty of Longford, Ireland. Norah and Tom were married on July 5, 1952, in New York City. Together they raised six children; first in the Bronx and then in Pound Ridge, NY. She is survived by her children Tom (Joanne) Prunty, Dan (Moira) Prunty, Eileen Prunty, Michael Prunty, and Sean (Jen) Prunty, as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her loving husband, Tom, and her cherished daughter, Mary Prunty LaPann predeceased her. Norah was most known for her warm, welcoming home and sumptuous meals. She was happiest when those she loved enjoyed what she so lovingly prepared and had seconds, and if she could convince you, thirds. Norah worked hard all her life-and most enjoyed her 20 plus year career as the restaurant manager at Rockrimmon Country Club in Stamford, CT. She was so loved there, that she was given a lifetime membership upon her retirement. Norah was a generous, loving wife, mother, and friend, always looking to help out those in need. Following her time working, Norah and Tom enjoyed their winters in Largo, FL. Each year they looked forward to reconnecting with the wonderful friends that they met there. The family wishes to thank Calvary Home Hospice staff Sophie and Dana, and home aides Eilish and Annie for their loving care. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Arrangements by Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, Mount Kisco, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your local food bank or Saint Judes Research Hospital. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be held at a later date.
