David Kucharczyk Obituary

Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Directors are honored to serve the family of David Kucharczyk who passed away suddenly on May 13, 2023 Our heartfelt condolences are with his family and friends. Dave was born on November 12, 1957 to Margaret and Walter Kucharczyk. He grew up with his four brothers and sisters, Jim, Joanne, John (his twin) and Marie, in Elmont, New York. Together they shared a colorful childhood, and just one bathroom. Dave remained close with his family throughout his adulthood, and he was adored by his many nieces and nephews. Dave met his future wife, Marina, when Marina laughed at Daves joke at a party. They married in 1991, and Dave kept Marina laughing throughout their 31 years of marriage. Dave and Marina have two children, William and Katherine, who were the lights of Daves life. Dave instilled within both his children his love for skiing, and they were fortunate to have skied together as a family in Sun Valley earlier this spring. William and Katherine feel blessed to have learned to ski from their dad. Though Dave was always an athlete, playing baseball and lacrosse in his youth, he found his calling in his 20s on the ski slopes. Dave spent many winter days with friends in Killington, Vermont. His recreational racing earned him the nickname "Racer Dave", and his graceful turns became his signature. Each year, when the snow melted and the grass turned green, Dave retired his ski boots in exchange for golf shoes. Dave loved sharing the ritual of golf with his friends and family, and he did so every weekend in the summers. When he wasnt part of the action, Dave was a phenomenal fan and a loyal coach. He was often on the sidelines of William and Katherines sporting events, using his booming voice to cheer them on (and heckle the refs). He enjoyed coaching for Mount Kisco Little League and continued to do so even after Will moved on to "bigger" leagues. He loved rooting for the Yankees, Rangers, and, regrettably, the New York Giants. Dave passed away on May 13, 2023 at his home in Mount Kisco, New York. Dave was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April and passed away suddenly from complications related to the disease. In the preceding weeks, Dave felt immensely loved by his friends, family and coworkers who offered their support. The day before he passed, Dave spent time listening to bird calls in his backyard and eating three helpings of ice cream for dinner. Dave is already deeply missed but lives on in the many lives he touched. Family and friends are invited to Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home for visitation on Friday May 19, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and to St. Francis of Assisi for a funeral mass on Saturday May 20, 2023 at 10:00am. There is no internment. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Daves honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the Lustgarten Foundation.
