Frances Rosalie Ward Farrell Obituary

Frances Rosalie Ward Farrell, 93, a long time resident of Mt. Kisco, NY, died at her home on April 20, 2015. In her words, she succumbed to old age. She was the daughter of Bridget Finnerty of Ballygar, Galway, Ireland and Michael J. Ward of Forgney, Ballymahon, Longford, Ireland. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School and remained an active member of the alumni organization. She worked for AT&T in the accounting department in Philadelphia and New York before becoming a full-time homemaker. She had a joyful marriage of 29 years to her husband James, who died in 1975. They met on a train during World War 2 before he embarked with the Army for Europe, and married in 1946 after his convalescence from his wounds. They had four children. She lived in the same house, which she and her husband had built, for the past 64 years. She embraced a strong faith in God and was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, loyal and steadfast to her many friends, an avid gardener, a world traveler until her late 80's, a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an active supporter of the Democratic Party and a booster for Philadelphia and Mt. Kisco. Her survivors include daughter Maureen of New York City; son James and his wife Kathleen of New Jersey, and their children Laura, Matthew and James; son Mark and his wife Mary of Mt. Kisco, and their daughters Kristi and Courtney; and son Brian of Yonkers; her sister Peggy Zajack of Pennsylvania; and her brother James, a retired Lieutenant Commander USN, and his wife Ana of Spain. She was predeceased by her sisters Kathleen, Mary and Theresa and her brother Thomas. The family will receive friends on April 22, 2015 from 7-9 pm and April 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 Main St, Mt. Kisco, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on April 24 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2 Green St, Mt. Kisco, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
