Patricia Kathryn Kissel Obituary

Patricia Kathryn "Kathy" Kissel, 77, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away on May 9, 2024. She was born on November 21, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois to James Laffey and Elizabeth Laffey.


Kathy graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1964. She was a Reservationist for Ozark Airlines from October 1966 thru December 1986. She then became a Clinical Research Associate working at St. Jude Midwest Affiliate for 25 years, retiring in January 2013.


Kathy married Lawrence "Larry" Kissel on January 2, 1965 in Pekin, Illinois. The couple had 2 children, Cheryl and Tammy.


Kathy was best known for being a social butterfly and interacting with people while attending various local events. She enjoyed traveling to various State parks with her family and horses to trail ride and "glamp" in a motorhome. She really enjoyed listening to live music and was in her element during the annual 3-day Irish Festival at the Peoria Riverfront. Kathy enjoyed traveling around Illinois to eagle watch. A sense of adventure allowed her to take up kayaking at the age of 75. While in the village, Kathy was an active member of the Ladies of Scared Heart, St. Anthony Guild 7 and the Boomers Rock Social Club.


Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Larry Kissel; brother-in-law, Bruce Daughters. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Kissel and Tammy Grant; sister, Sharon Daughters; granddaughter, Brittany (Brent) Wilcoxson; grandson Jordan (Becca) Grant; great-grandson Benson Wilcoxson.


A visitation for Kathy will be held on May 15 at 9:00 a.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 589 W Grand Ave, Hot Springs. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held following at Sacred Heart of Jesus Memorial Garden, Hot Springs Village. A luncheon will be held following at HSV Townhouse Assoc. Community Center, 1 Perralena Lane.
