Donald G. McNay 73, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 3:02am Thursday, May 2, 2024 in Orlando, Florida.


Don was born January 18, 1951, in Quincy, IL to George & Hazel (Koenig) McNay.


He was married to Linda L. (Jones) McNay on January 12, 1973, at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy, IL.

Survivors include three children, Melissa (Jason) Fritz of Clermont, FL, Brent McNay of Quincy, IL, and Kent McNay of Grand Rapids, MI; one sibling, Michael McNay of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren, Lyndzey, Landra (John), Lauraleigh, Britney (Seth), Nathan (Kisha), Abbigayle (Abbey), and Molly; and five great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents George & Hazel McNay; his mother in-law and father in-law; his wife, Linda and daughter, Jennifer McNay.


Don worked as a machinist at E.L Smith & Sons, Keuster Tool & Die; Manchester Tank, Quincy Machine & Welding all of Quincy, IL.


Don was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. He and his wife loved being outdoors. They spent plenty of time camping in their 5th wheel at the Mark Twain Campground. They also enjoyed traveling, with Michigan and Florida being their favorite destinations, especially if attending stadium baseball games was involved. While in Florida, he would make sure to stop and visit Jupiter, FL to attend Cardinal Spring Training games. When his children were younger, he enjoyed coaching his son Kent’s youth league soccer team and attending all of his other children's youth soccer games.


Don was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy.


Friends and Family are invited to Don’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be May 14, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. A Funeral Ceremony will directly follow with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Home Services Program, which allows Illinois residents with disabilities to receive the care they need in their homes rather than in an institutional setting.
