Richard 'Dick' E. Watkins Obituary

Richard ‘Dick’ E. Watkins, age 76, of Neshannock Twp., PA, passed away the morning of May 8, 2024, at his residence.

Born Jan. 27, 1948, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and Evelyn (Cartwright) Watkins.

On Aug. 29, 1970, he married his beloved wife of 53 years, Joanne (Lobazo) Watkins. She survives at home.

Mr. Watkins was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1965. He attended Westminster College and was then drafted into the Army, where he served in Vietnam as a combat medic, and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. He worked as a real estate broker and appraiser from 1973 – 2010. After retirement, Dick worked as a parts delivery driver for Napa Auto Parts.

Dick enjoyed reading, collecting model trains, and feeding all the neighborhood dogs Milk Bones. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the NRA, Lawrence Club, Elks Club, PA Associates of Relators, and the Kwanis Club. Above everything else, what gave Dick the most joy in life, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a former member of Highland UP Church.

In addition to his wife survivors include one daughter, Lynne (Robin) Weber of Imperial, PA; one son, Dr. Richard R. (Dr. Tracy Lemonovich) Watkins of Aurora, OH; one sister, Deborah Duvall of OK; three grandchildren, Savannah Watkins, Isaac Watkins and George Weber; two grand dogs “Bailey” and “Lincoln”, and several nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Thomas David Watkins.

Visitation will be held on Sat. May 11th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at the funeral home, at noon.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
