Steven Jay Niswander Obituary

Steven Jay Niswander, 57, of Solway, MN died Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 13, 2024 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN.


Steve was born January 9, 1967 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Clifford and Betty Lou (Sellner) Niswander. He was raised and educated in Bagley, MN; graduating Bagley High School in 1985. He attended Vo-Tech for fiber optics and worked for Wilde Construction in Shevlin. Later he worked with troubled youth in Bagley. He later was self-employed as a carpenter, roofer, and grave digger. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, storytelling, and helping his family with their projects.


He is survived by his sisters, Susan Niswander, Nancy Restemayer, and Mary (Doug) Dyrdahl, and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Niswander, mother, Betty Julin, step father, Walter Julin, grandmother, Martha Julin, brother, Dennis Niswander, daughter Tara Martine, and grandson, Wyatt Martine.
