Geraldine J. Kane Obituary

Geraldine Kane (nee: Laska), age 84, of Cedar Lake passed away on May 5, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Kane; her sister, Madeline Conn; her sons, John and Michael Kane; and her four grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexis, Dylan, and Lylianah Kane. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Laska; her sisters, Sylvia Kijurna and Loretta Jelonek; and her granddaughter, Emily Kane.


Friends may greet the family starting from 10 am to 11 am on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Holy Name Church, 11000 W 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake., Indiana. A funeral mass celebrating her life will begin at 11 am followed by inurnment in Holy Name Cemetery, which is behind the church.


Geraldine was born in East Chicago, Indiana. After graduating from Washington High School she attend St Margaret’s Nursing School. She graduated in 1962 with a registered nursing degree. She spent her nursing career assisting patients at St Margaret’s and Our Lady of Mercy hospitals. Geraldine was an avid fan of murder mysteries especially those written by Agatha Christie. When not reading or watching English dramas on TV, she enjoyed spending time outside in her garden.
