Leonard L. Campbell Obituary

Leonard L. Campbell, 85, of Chillicothe, died at 7:10pm Saturday, January 1, 2011, in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born July 10, 1925, in Ashville, OH to the late Francis and Mabel McCray Campbell. On May 6, 1972, he married the former Ruth Ann Adams, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Elaine Campbell and her special companion Mike Caminiti, of Loudon, TN; son Brian Campbell, Chillicothe; step-daughter Teresa Trone, Long Beach, CA; grandchildren: KaSondra Campbell, Greg Campbell, Kayla Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Brittany Campbell, all of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law Betty (John) Barnhart, Kingston; Wanda Adams, Chillicothe; brothers-in-law Louis E. (Shirley) Adams, Cincinnati, OH; William B. (Chris) Adams; Charles E. Adams; David L. (Janet) Adams; Leonard B. (Missy) Adams, all of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by his sisters: Florence Bridgefoot, Ruth Dowler, Clarabelle Franks, Sarah Tussing; brothers: Murl Campbell and William Doyle Campbell; his former wife, Lois Smalley Campbell; and a brother-in-law Bernard Adams. Len was a graduate of Ashville High School and served his country in the US Air Force during WWII. He retired as a Supervisor from the GE Electrical Plant in Circleville in 1987 and then drove a wheelchair van for Pickaway Plains Ambulance. He was a life member of the Circleville AmVets, Post 2256. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Harrison Twp. for 17 years where he had served as the safety officer. Len also was a HAM radio operator and president and co-founder of the Teays Valley Amateur Radio Club. He was a charter member of Upper Lansdowne Golf Course, a Quarter Century Member of GE Retirees, loved to fish and fly private aircraft and attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Len was happiest attending his grandchildren’s numerous activities and sporting events. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 4, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Davis and Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Circleville AmVets will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call Monday (today) from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
