Edward M. Curran, Jr. Obituary

Edward M. (“Fast Eddie”) Curran, Jr. passed away peacefully May 4, 2024 at his home in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Ed was born January 28, 1943 in Washington, DC to U.S. District Judge Edward M. And Catherine (Hand) Curran. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Chevy Chase DC;  St. Johns College High School, Washington DC; and Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmitsburg MD.  After college, Ed was a trust officer at Riggs National Bank moving on to become a top salesman for 25+ years at Euro Motor Cars in Bethesda, MD.

Ed met and married the love of his life, Keli, in 2002. After retirement, they moved to a beautiful home at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Eddie spent his time perfecting his golf game which was a work in progress at the time of his death. He was a voracious reader, mostly history. Ed and Keli also transformed their home in Barefoot Resort into a beautiful and welcoming oasis. Ed also served his community as a member of the Architectural Review Committee. Although he left DC behind, Ed remained a devoted fan and supporter of the Washington Redskins and the Nats.

Keli and Eddie loved to travel, enjoying numerous trips to Italy and two visits to Eddie’s ancestral turf in Ireland.

He is survived by his wife, Keli, and his sister, Eileen Monahan. He was predeceased by his sisters Ann Schidtlein and Mary Catherine Curran, and by his dog Bentley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, North Myrtle Beach, SC. A luncheon will follow at Barefoot Resort Golf Clubhouse. The service will be live streamed olssnmb.com, scroll down to “Masses” and click on Curran Mass.
