Leonard Burton Gelber Obituary

Lenny Gelber passed away at his home on Tuesday May 7th in Monroe Township. He was 78 years old.

Lenny was born to Moe & Betty Gelber and raised in the Bronx, NY with his three older brothers, Harvey, Steven & Donald. He often entertained everyone with his stories of his childhood and being the youngest of four siblings.

After high school he honorably served at Fort Dix, NJ before entering the garment business in which he worked his way up from being a Cutter to the Cutting Floor Manager. His career spanned over 40 years in the garment district in which he excelled in all aspects of the industry from sales to operations before he retired.

Lenny loved to play golf and was an avid sports fan. He loved to cheer for his local teams of the NY Mets & Jets and discussed them often with his family and friends. He also had a bond with dogs, especially his Beagle, Gracie, who was his best friend in his later years.

Lenny will be remembered as a very hard working and humorous man. His ability of storytelling about his daily life was a huge part of his personality that his friends and family enjoyed.

He is survived by his son, Jason Gelber of Florida, and daughter, Cori Gelber of NJ. Lenny also had three grandchildren consisting of Maya Kenny, Spencer Kenny & Cameron Kenny.

He will be missed!

Full arrangements have been entrusted to the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555.
