Joseph Garrison, age 74 of Cresco passed away Monday morning, July 2, 2018 at Accura Care Center in Cresco.  A Memorial Service will be held on July 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Vernon Springs in rural Cresco, Iowa. Joseph Charles Garrison was born on April 22, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles and Helen Garrison. He grew up in Pennsylvania and New Jersey until he enlisted in the U.S Navy. There he served briefly during the Vietnam War. During his life Joe was married to Darlene Greene and was blessed by two children Rhonda and Greg. Then was then married to Joann DePaul and was blessed by one child Melissa. Continuing on through life, he then married Nancy Hendersen, and was blessed by a step child Stacey. Lastly he married Ruth Hermanson and was blessed by two step children Ron and Mary. Throughout his life Joe “adopted” many people into his family, some of these include a daughter Dawn, a daughter Tammy and a son Jimmy. To him family wasn’t defined by blood, but rather by love, and his heart was big enough to hold all of those who cared to reside there. Joe was an avid fisherman, artist, musician, and handy man. There were many avenues in which he imparted beauty on this world. He was the most kind and caring individual that anyone could meet and always made those around him feel cared for and loved. Joe is survived by his first wife Darlene (Maye), his daughter Rhonda Cantu(Bob), his son Greg Maye (Stephanie), daughter Melissa Ott (Andy), daughter Dawn DePaul, daughter Stacey Ortlip, daughter Tammy Mincks (Jamie), son Jimmy Guess, son Ron Hermanson, and daughter Mary Hermanson, and a son-in-law Dennis Rush. Grandchildren and great grandchildren: granddaughter Alexandria Hackney(Husband Travis and daughter Riley and son Colt), grandson Anthony Cantu(Girlfriend Christin and daughter Jordyn), grandson Noah Maye, grandson Caleb Maye, grandson Dakota Rush (Girlfriend Gabriel), granddaughter Abigail Ott, grandson Dalton Rush, granddaughter Crystal Noll (Daughter Destiny and grandson Dominick), granddaughter Cassidy Noll, granddaughter Amber Criblear (Husband Steve, son Cody, daughter Jayda, son Declan), grandson Dustin Ortlip (Son Damien) ,granddaughter Elizabeth Koch, grandson Dawson Koch, granddaughter Kyle Drew (Adam), granddaughter Kaylin Miller (Daughter Jaylee), grandson Dalton Guess, granddaughter Casandra Witt, granddaughter Merry Witt, granddaughter Stacy Witt. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Helen Garrison, his wife Joann DePaul, his wife Nancy Hendersen, his wife Ruth Hermanson, his grandson-in-law Ron Witt, and his great great granddaughter Marianna. He will live forever in our hearts and our memories, we are all truly blessed for having had him as part of our lives. May his soul rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.
