Helen Fay (Totten) Watkins Obituary

In Loving Memory of Helen Fay Watkins

Helen Fay (Totten) Watkins, 91, of Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully at home, on May 04, 2024.

Helen was born on January 31,1933 in Fork Creek, WV, to the late Calvary and Hattie (Barker) Totten. She graduated as valedictorian from Sherman High School in 1950, later to work for Simpson & Osborne as an accountant. In 1983, after working many years in accounting, Helen co-opened Nature’s Furniture with her husband, retiring there in 2009.

Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Jon (Petie) Watkins; sister, Linda Dahlquist; brothers, James (Jimmy) Totten and Harold Totten.

She is survived by her loving sons, Mike Arcuri and Greg Arcuri; granddaughter, Valiciti Arcuri; sister, Loretta Woodrum; brother, Joe Totten (Marva), as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Helen cherished her role as a wife, mother and grandmother, as her family was the center of her world. She especially loved spending time with her only granddaughter, with whom she had a very special bond. In her later years, when physically able, she enjoyed attending Maranatha Fellowship Church. Outside of her family, she had many hobbies and talents. One of which, a passion for art, where she spent countless hours painting extraordinary pictures. Helen was also an avid reader and could often be found deep in a book. She loved collecting anything frog-related, working crossword puzzles, and making others laugh. There aren’t enough words to describe what an amazing life she lived and how generous she was to others. She was genuinely one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 1:00 PM., Friday, May 10, 2024, at Bollinger Funeral Home, with Rev. Randell Kinder officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, directly following the service.

Although Helen is no longer physically with us, may her loving spirit live through us all forever. Special mention to her dogs, Prince and Winston, as they have finally been reunited with their beloved mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311.
