Ella Lee Hicks slipped away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her place of residence. She was born in Amelia, Virginia to the late George and Mary Archer on August 26, 1944.

Ella Lee attended Russell Grove High School. She joined Promise Land Baptist Church at an early age. She was a faithful member until her health failed.

Ella Lee worked many years at General Binding Company (GBC) in Amelia, Virginia. After leaving GBC she did part-time “Home-Cleaning” and was a loving childcare provider to her two granddaughters. She loved all types of plants and flowers and loved planting. She enjoyed watching her game shows with her favorites being Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and The Price is Right. She also loved watching Judge Judy and cooking shows. She was known by her family for her special touch of making homemade pancakes and biscuits. Her specialty dish was spaghetti and homemade chicken and vegetable stew.

Ella Lee was joined in holy matrimony to Thomas Lee Hicks on June 25, 1966. From this union God bless them with two children. They were married for 57 years.

She was preceded in death by her son Kevin C. Hicks and grandchildren D’Ajah K. Braxton-Hicks and Kevante’ C. Hicks.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her husband; Thomas L. Hicks, her daughter; Timeka C. Hicks, granddaughter; D’Ivieyon N. Braxton-Hicks, and future grandson-in-love; Alloi “AJ” Jarring, sisters; Rosemary Merrick and Gladys Patrick (Robert), Brothers; George Archer, William “Bill” Archer, James Archer (Debra), Willie Archer, and Percy Archer. Sister-in-Laws; Arlene Johnson (Isaac), Viola Hicks and Marilyn Hicks; Herbert Hicks (Joyce), and Deacon Louis Hicks. A devoted nephew; Richard “Bootsy” Archer (Janice) and dedicated friend; Rosa Lee Oulds. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
