Trinidad “Trini” Almeda, age 79, of Utica passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a private family graveside service. The Burgess Funeral Homes in LaSalle is assisting the family.
Trini was born on April 29th, 1944 in Ottawa to Trinidad and Leonore (Huerta) Almeda. He married Marie Barnhart on August 31, 1963 in Utica. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2014. Trini is survived by two daughters, Nicki (Tyler) Pearce of Utica and Sheila (Curt) Degner of Sycamore; four grandchildren, Liam, Noah, Kaia, and Koen; one brother, Francis “Peppy” Almeda of Ottawa; and two sisters, Herlinda “Linda” Almeda and Josie (Jerry) Jeffries of Ottawa; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Anthony, and Steven Almeda; and three sisters, Catherine Arroyo, Mary Cabrera, and Victoria Hensley.
Trini was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Utica. He was a retired, fifty-four year member of the Laborers Union Hall Local #393 in Marseilles. He was a lifelong sports fan and follower of all Chicago teams. He also enjoyed playing darts and pool in his free time. Trini was always there to lend a helping hand and was loved by those who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family, grandchildren, and all of his friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
