Raymond C. Thompson, 79, from the Town of Rome, City of Nekoosa, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Ray was born on August 1, 1944 in Milwaukee to Raymond J. and Elsbeth (Giese) Thompson. He graduated from Custer High School and Marquette University with a BA in Criminology. He was a United States Army veteran during Vietnam, serving as a helicopter Repairman. Ray was a police officer in Milwaukee and Waukesha County for over 20 years, rising to the ranks of police chief of Butler, Wisconsin.
Ray loved living Up North, being outdoors and sitting on his porch watching the birds at his feeder.
He is survived by his, wife, Mary Thompson (Fitzpatrick), children, Steve (Karen) Handrich, Jennifer (Chad) Uebersetzig, Daniel (Jill) Handrich, Jason (Rachel) Thompson, 10 grandchildren, Chloe and Sophia Handrich, Ashlyn and Avery Uebersetzig, Nevaeha and Pierce Handrich, Miles and Rylan Thompson, and Joey and Sophie. He is further survived by his sister, Sandie Blumenberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susan (Slyfield) Thompson.
