JOHNSON, Marjorie Jean (Reeves)


Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Listowel Memorial Hospital, Listowel, just 2 months shy of her 95th birthday. Born on June 14, 1929, in Arthur, Ontario, a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Botterill) Reeves.


Cherished and loving mother of Barry Johnson and wife Julia, Wendy Johnson, all of Kitchener, Cheryl and husband Stewart Horton of Nova Scotia, Denise and husband Hamilton Ballagh of Palmerston and April Johnson of Listowel. Devoted grandmother of Shannon Johnson (Ryan), Michael Pratt (Cam), Trevor Pratt, Joshua Horton (Sarah), Mathew Ballagh (Holly). Proud great-grandmother of Isabella, Wesley, Hayden, Kamryn, Brayden and Audrey. Marjorie is survived by her brother-in-law Alan Johnson and by her many nieces and nephews.


Predeceased and reunited with her beloved husband Howard Johnson, son Brian Johnson, granddaughter Holly Ballagh, brothers George Reeves (Ruth), Bill Reeves (Caroline), Robert Reeves, sister Helen Beech (Earl), brothers-in-law Ken Johnson (Wilma), Harry Johnson (Connie) and sisters-in-law Betty Southen (Jack) and Shirley Johnson.


Marjorie was a longtime member of both the Milverton and Listowel Legions. She served for many years on the Women’s Auxiliary. Marjorie and Howard earned a professional status in Florida for shuffleboard. She enjoyed playing Cribbage, Euchre, Darts and attending all events at the Legion.


Marjorie’s wishes for cremation have taken place. A private family service was held with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 259, 565 Elizabeth St E, Listowel, from 1 – 4 p.m.


As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation and can be done through the funeral home.
