Robert Leo McMillan (79 years young) was called home Thursday, April 25, 2024, after a 2-year battle with cancer.
He was born March 3, 1945, to Robert and Rosie (Schaefer) McMillan. Born and raised in Hubbardston and a proud resident his entire life, Leo graduated in 1963 from St John the Baptist High School. He was drafted into the US Army in 1965, where he served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. Leo was extremely proud of his military service, a lifetime member of the American Legion, where he was very active. He was also a member of the VFW, Eagles, and the Moose Lodge. On September 27, 1969, he married the love of his life, Diane Margaret Misner; together they raised 4 children and enjoyed several hobbies, including car shows and camping. Leo was known and loved by many and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Leo was also a member of the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association (MMOGTA), which he looked forward to their annual tractor show each year. He always arrived a week prior to the show to help others with any repairs needing to be done and when the show started, he loved giving tours of the show grounds to friends and family in his golf cart.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; in laws Melvin (Zeke) and Dorothy Misner; brother-in-law Douglas Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane; children Amy (Brian) Stout, Robert McMillian, Joseph (Hailey) McMillan, and Pamela (Matthew) Cook; grandchildren Tyler (Alysha) Speckin, Erin McMillan, Emily (Bradlee) Devers, Trent and Hunter Webert, Sarah (Nigel) Walls, and Owen Cook; great-grandchildren Harper and Haven Devers, Dilyn Speckin, and Maria Walls; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4-7pm at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, and again on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 10am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (324 S. Washington St, Hubbardston).
