Dorothy Ann Johnson Powell was born on September 10, 1948, in Ringgold, Louisiana to Lynn and Girtha Johnson. She was the only girl along with seven brothers.


She was baptized at St. Mary Baptist Church in Ringgold. She was married to Joe Nathan Powell on September 8, 1978. She would later join the First Baptist Church - Cordell where she was active until she became ill. She was active in the Mission, the Hospitality Committee, Sunday School Youth Department and the choir.


She graduated from Southside High School in Ringgold. She attended and received an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood from South Arkansas Community College. She was active member of Champagnolle Landing where she participated in the Silver Kickers. She also was an active helper with Meet Me At The Court.


She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers- James Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Melvin Johnson and Elton Johnson, and one nephew.


She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Joe N. Powell, two sons: Eric (Wanda) Iverson and Shannon (Safonda) Iverson, three brothers: Louis Johnson, Lee Arthur (Carrie) Johnson and Paul Johnson, five grandchildren: Seneca, Shaquille (Bianca), Xavier, O'Donovan and Ja"Lil, eight great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends.
