Lorraine (Cully) Meade, 79, of Newington, passed away on Friday, October 23 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Beloved wife of the late William J. Meade and daughter of the late William and Catherine (Scully) Cully, Lorraine was born in Hartford and moved to Newington where she has lived for over 50 years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Church where she was a past president of the St. Mary's Ladies' Guild. Lorraine was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Senior Club and as a teenager she belonged to the Children of Mary church group. She placed family before all else and her family feels that they have truly been blessed by the work of her hands and the love of her heart. Lorraine leaves her beloved children; Tom Meade and his wife Martha Bryenton of Westbrookfield, MA, Share Adams and her husband Carter of West Hartford, CT, Sheila Meade of Newington, Kevin Meade of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Bielawski and her companion Bob Artigue of Port Barre, LA, and Mary Beth Sherman and her husband Mike of New Hartford, CT, her grand-children; Matthew, Sean, Meaghan, Deanna, Holly, Kristofer, Zach, Will, Mallory, and Gabe, her great grand-children who knew her as Gi-Gi, Aidan, Kristofer, Leah and Kayden, her brothers; Donald Cully and his wife Renee and Jack Cully and his wife Joan, her sister Mary Cully Diesel and her husband Edward; her brother-in-law Robert Meade and his wife Mary, her sister-in-law Marilyn Daley and her brother-in-law James Giuffre. In addition to her husband, Lorraine was pre-deceased by her brother Bill and his wife Jackie Cully, and her sisters; Genevieve Giuffre and Grace Sullivan and her husband Don. Her funeral service will begin on Monday, October 26th at 9:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, CT 06111 followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Newington. Interment will take place in West Meadow Cemetery immediately following the mass. Relative and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 25th from 4:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
