Lucille Jenkins McManus Obituary

Lucille Jenkins McManus, 91, of Pollock, LA was born on Sunday, August 28, 1932 in Crowville, LA and passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

She is reunited with her husband of 63 years, Howard McManus; son, Allen Dale McManus; and parents.

Those left behind to cherish Lucille’s memories are her son, James Ray McManus of Pollock; daughters Theresa Martin (Danny) of Vidalia, Vicki Roberts (Billy) of Pollock, and Melissa Jenkins (Randy) of Vidalia; brother, Curtis Jenkins; grandchildren: Nicki McManus, Kris McManus, Holly Nunnery, James Earl McManus, Tina Nichols, Daniel Martin, Jamie Dale McManus, Paul Roberts, Sarah Roberts, and Hunter Williams; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Lucille was known and loved by many. She had a heart for God and her family. You did not have to be blood related to be considered her family. Lucille babysat generations of children in Vidalia and considered them to be her kids. If she wasn’t your babysitter, you don’t know what you missed. When she moved to Kokomo, MS, she was active at Kokomo Baptist Church and was involved in missions. When she moved to Pollock, she became active at New Prospect Baptist Church. She helped start weekly then twice weekly Mexican Train Dominoes. Lucille had a smile and laughter like no other. For the past several years her favorite activity was front porch sitting while watching the hummingbirds, wild birds, squirrels, gold fish, and farm animals. Her other hobbies were reading, playing cards, and telling stories.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at 11AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Riverside Baptist Church in Vidalia with Bro. Paul Roberts and Bobby Mulvihill officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 night before on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the church. Burial will be at Crowville Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements will be under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday, LA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to missions at your local church.

Those honoring Lucille as pallbearers will be Chris Givens, Jaden McManus, Hayden Nunnery, Dannen Roark, Hunter Williams, Daniel Martin, James Earl McManus, and Jamie Dale McManus.
