Oleta Folds Hilbun Obituary

A celebration of life for Mrs. Oleta Folds Hilbun, of Baskin, will be 2:00PM Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Family Community Church with Pastors Daniel and Dani Hawks officiating. Interment will follow at Ogden Cemetery near Liddieville under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial Winnsboro. Visitation will be

from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the funeral home.

Oleta was born November 26, 1926 in Sikes, LA and passed from this life to her eternal home on Saturday, April 13 2024, at her home in Baskin, at the age of 97.

Oleta Hilbun, first and foremost, loved the Lord and always strived to reflect Christ in all that she did. She had great spiritual wisdom, spending many hours reading the Bible along with any Bible commentaries she could access. She loved her church and church family, and always stood ready and willing to do the work of the Church by serving in every capacity possible, even preaching at various points in her life.

She took great pride in her recently built church which gave Family Community Church a dedicated place to worship the Lord. Oleta was also very passionate about her family, loving them fiercely, praying for them daily, supporting them unconditionally, and cherishing each day spent with every one of them.

She loved her community, especially the Family Community Christian School, which was established in her later years. She was actively involved with the school up into her nineties, whether it was teaching Bible study to students, cheering for the teams, praying for them, or just simply making her presence known. All of this

she did in service to her Lord. II Timothy 4:7 says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Today we know she finished the race well, and celebrates in Heaven with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, her husband, and loved ones who have gone before her. She has no more pain, no more sorrow, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gerald “Bud” Hilbun, Sr.; her parents, Marvest and Bessie Folds; and her brother, James E. Folds.

Oleta leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Linda Hemphill (Walter), Elizabeth Rigdon, and Gerald G. Hilbun, Jr. (Vicki); five grandchildren, John Walter Hemphill, Jr. (Heather), Caroline Hemphill, Michelle Davison (Travis), Seth Hilbun, and David Rigdon; three great-grandchildren, Trey Hemphill, James

Davison, and Sawyer Davison; a sister-in-law, Velva Folds; also survived by host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Hemphill, Trey Hemphill, Travis Davison, Jamie Folds,

Curtis Hilbun, and David Rigdon.

The family would like express their heartfelt gratitude to Pastors Daniel and Dani Hawks, Family Community Church Family, special caregivers, Lisa Henderson, Margaret Erwin, and the staff of Passages Hospice, along with a host of neighbors and friends for each and every phone call, text, and all of their loving care, support nd prayers during her illness and this difficult time of sorrow.
