Delmus W. Pinkard Obituary

Delmus (Del) Walter Wallace Pinkard was born in Alabama on November 14, 1952. Del fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished his race on April 13, 2024 in Hot Springs, AR after a sudden decline in health.

Del is survived by the love of his life, Shelia Pinkard. They created as many memories as they could and were blessed with 8 years and 2 months of marriage. Del's survivors include one son, Brad Pinkard, 2 bonus daughters, Amanda (James) Jones and Holly (Mike) Elledge.

Surviving grandchildren include Elliot Pinkard, Katarina (Austin) Vaughn, Seth (Heidi) Jones, Noah Jones, Ethan Jones, Cade Elledge, Cameron Elledge, great grandson Tanner Vaughn, great granddaughter Audrey Jones and 2 more great grandchildren on the way. Del was so proud of his big family. He loved to play Santa Claus to bring smiles to the children every year. Some of his greatest joy in life came from being "Papa Del".

Del grew up in a large family being the youngest of 12 children. He is survived by his brother Neil Pinkard and his sisters Geneva Telford and Shirley Doty plus many nieces and nephews. Del also leaves behind his closest friend, a brother from another mother, David (Cricket) Crane. Del and David were lifelong friends and talked almost every day for over 60 years.

Del is preceded in death by his parents Wallace L Pinkard and Florine Pinkard, brothers Loyal Pinkard, James Pinkard, Floyd Pinkard and JD Pinkard, sisters Mary E. Pinkard, Virginia Pinkard Mahaffey, Christine Pinkard Flint and Wilene Pinkard Pearson. Waiting for him in heaven is his first wife Frances Lavern Pinkard and his grandson Nicholas Ryan Jones.

After graduating high school in Ohio, Del had a variety of jobs with experience in factories, funeral service and food service. His love and calling was to minister God's word to others. Del pastored and preached for almost 50 years and had experience being a Chaplain. Del enjoyed gospel singing and Bible studies. He went to church as often as he could and usually wore his Sunday best.

Del leaves behind many collections including Bibles, fishing and camping gear, antique model trucks, eagles, gospel CD's, hats, and lighthouses. Del collected many things from estate sales and garage sales. He started his own cast iron skillet business called D & S Cast Iron and enjoyed selling items at flea markets. Del also loved the Alabama Crimson Tide...Roll Tide!

The family would like to thank the CHI Emergency Department and Encompass Health Rehab for their care. They would also like to thank all of the family and friends for their support and prayers. Del loved to travel and he has made his final journey to Heaven. He'll see you there!

A visitation will take place 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs. A celebration of Del's life will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Living Word Worship Center at 2341 Park Ave, Hot Springs, with Pastor Donnie Edge officiating.

Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Waldo, AR. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
