James L Huhn, age 79, of Hubbardston, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born December 15, 1944, in Portland, the son of Herman and Mathilda (Kowatch) Huhn.
James married the love of his life, Penny Wood, on September 18, 1971, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. James was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was well known as an all-around family man. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and going to the cottage. Most importantly, he loved his children and was the proud grandfather of eight. He proudly served his country in the National Guard for 4 years.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Penny; daughters Tanya (Danbury) Zimmer and Mandy (Mark) Pluff; sons Dan Huhn and Michael (Mallory) Huhn; grandchildren Aaron and Megan Zimmer, Mitchell and Jenna Pluff, Mia and AJ Huhn, and Macklon and Maevyn Huhn; brothers Robert Huhn, Ken Huhn, and Steve Huhn; sisters Marleah Quimby and Sharon Goodman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ron, Jon, and Duane Huhn; and sister Mary Ellen LaRose.
Visitation for James will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4-8pm, with a rosary at 7:30pm, at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City; and again on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 10am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Hubbardston.
