Joseph John “Joe” Carey age 61 of Newton passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.


Funeral services celebrating Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Mike Knepper officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of services Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.


Joe was born on January 18, 1963 in Carmi, Illinois, one of 6 children born to the union of Jim and Margaret (Agles) Carey. On July 1, 1995, Joe married Heather Lynn Culver in Sam Parr State Park. Joe worked for Kirchner Building Center in Newton as a yard man and delivery driver.


In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing and watching Western television show and movies. He was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He loved his family, his cats and was a proud grandpa to his grandson Theodore.


Joe will be loved and remembered by his wife of twenty-eight years, Heather Carey of Newton; daughter Megan Lynn Bain, husband Douglas of Montrose and son, Nathon Joseph Carey of Danville; and grandson Theodore Bain.
