Josephine "Jo" Louise McNally Obituary

Josephine “Jo” Louise McNally, 73, of Hanover, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Born June 13, 1950, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Emory “Bud” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Bittner) Miller. She was the loving wife of John “Jay” Francis McNally, her husband of 56 years.

Jo’s family was her world. She was her family’s biggest advocate and champion. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Even before passing, her legacy was woven within her children and grandchildren. She was known as Gammy. Her love for supporting her grandchildren’s activities was passionately championed. From teaching crocheting, cheering at sporting events, gaming, or sharing baking secrets, she created a lifelong bond that will impact many generations to follow. During family cookouts and holiday events, her enthusiasm to spend time with her family was unmatched. Jo’s love for hosting family will be deeply missed, especially during the holiday seasons. Her personal hobbies included birdwatching, knitting, creating beautiful landscapes for her home and children’s homes, crabbing, fishing, bingo, and camping. Jo was an avid and longtime Orioles fan who rarely missed a ball game.

Jo attended Hereford Senior High School and spent most of her working career as a retail district manager. Surviving in addition to her husband are her cherished daughters Stephanie Hensley and husband David of Holly Springs, NC, Stacie Arigbamu of Parkville, and Tracy Lookingbill and husband David of Littlestown, PA; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and loving extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings Emory Miller, Jr., and Mary Ann Bosley.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
