EDITH EATON WHITAKER GROGAN

COX FUNERAL HOME

BASTROP, LOUISIANA

Edith Eaton Whitaker Grogan was born February 19, 1933 at Megargel, Texas to the late Arthur L. Eaton and Etta Hall Eaton.  She passed from this life to her heavenly home on April 7, 2024.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Harmony Baptist Church, Collinston, Louisiana followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Reverend Allan Eppinette officiating.  Committal services and burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Ms. Edie, or "Moms" as she was affectionately called by family and friends,  loved her Harmony Church family and was an active and faithful member until her health began to decline.  She worked as an L.P.N.  in five different states with the majority of her service as an I.C.U. nurse.

Mrs. Grogan is survived by her daughter, Janice Reynolds and husband Joseph Reynolds;  five grandchildren, Jesse Faulkenbury, Jana Cannon and husband Denny Cannon, Vince Faulkenbury and wife Lisa Faulkenbury, all of Bastrop, Louisiana, James Whitaker and Jessica Whitaker of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eleven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.   She is also survived by a special niece, Mary Odom, and her family;  two loving caregivers and friends, Bertha Rowland and Vicki Boyte Linzay;   special friends, Diann Stapleton, Susie Scott, and childhood friend, Mary Reed of Graham, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her precious son, James Leslie Whitaker;  her husband, Robert B. Grogan, her parents, one sister, nine brothers, and the father of her children, James C. Whitaker.

Serving as pallbearers for Ms. Edie are Vince Faulkenbury, Denny Cannon, Trey Thomas, Riley Faulkenbury, Cole Faulkenbury, and Josh LeBrun.   Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Faulkenbury and Steve Middlebrooks.

A very special thank-you to Louisiana Hospice Care and nurses Latarsha and Deva, who not only lovingly cared and provided comfort for Edie but also were very supportive of her family.

For those who wish, the family suggest planned memorials be made to Harmony Baptist Church, LA Hwy 593, Collinston, Louisiana 71229.
