Gary Gilbert Hill Obituary

Gary Gilbert Hill, age 73, of Cicero, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2024, surrounded by his family, at Ascension St. Vincent 86th Street in Indianapolis, IN.

Gary was born in Indianapolis on January 22, 1951, to the late Garnet and Elsie (McNeff) Hill.  Gary graduated from Pike High School with the Class of 1969. He went on to attend Indiana University, graduating in 1973 with his bachelor’s degree in Education.

On December 31, 1975, he married Pam Douglas, and they shared 48 years of marriage. To this union two sons were born: Aaron and Jarrod. The family lived in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis for 12 years before moving to Cicero, Indiana where they enjoyed their lake home on Morse Reservoir for 37 years. Gary and Pam started their own construction and carpentry company, G & P Enterprises, Inc., and Gary built the business for 44 years into what it is today.

Gary was a "water dog" who learned to water ski at age ten. He was a great slalom skier and also barefooted. He and his sons participated in skiing and knee board competitions and the Cicero 4th of July Ski Shows held in the past. In addition to water and boating activities, he enjoyed quail and pheasant hunting, and target shooting with his brother-in-law and best friend, Chuck Stein.  Gary was a member of the Martinsville Conservation Club, Elwood Conservation Club & Crooked Creek Conservation Club. Gary lived life fully, enjoyed hosting parties and socializing, and was an avid fan of IU Hoosiers basketball. He loved spending time with his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. They all looked forward to their sleepovers with GPa and Nana having pizza on Saturday night and homemade waffles made by GPa on Sunday morning.  Gary also had a special love for his two dogs, Cabo and Stryker.

Gary is survived by his Wife, Pam Hill of Cicero, IN; Sons, Aaron (Amanda) Hill of Tipton, IN, and Jarrod (Aimee) Hill of Westfield, IN; Grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacen, Jaina, Owen, Aubree, Harper, Cormack, and Barrett; Sister, Susie (Jerry) Ludlow of Fishers, IN; Brother, Dan Hill of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law, Betty Hill of McCordsville, IN; and several nieces & nephews. His many friends will truly miss him for his gifted carpentry and easy-going ways.

Gary was preceded in death by his Parents, Garnet & Elsie Hill; and Brother, John Hill.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on April 15th at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN. 46034.
