Genevieve L. Hooker Prunoske, 98, of Constantia, NY passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 29, 1925 in Hornell, NY to the late Fay and Irah Davis Hooker.

She worked as a Teacher spending 21 years in Early Childhood Education. She also worked as a Real Estate Broker for Caldwell Banker for 25 years, until her retirement at age 86.

She was a member of Constantia and Cleveland Methodist Churches and spent many years as Church School Superintendent. She was also a Member U.M.W. and church choir.

During WWII, Genevieve lived and worked in Washington, DC from 1945 to 1946, working in the Human Resources Division. Genevieve shared an apartment with her best friend Sheila, who served as the White House official photographer.

She enjoyed boating, dancing, reading, swimming, reading and picnics and bonfires with her son, Larry.

Gen had a great impact on both the young and old throughout her 60 years she called home on the North Shore. Her compassion for others will never be forgotten.

Genevieve was pre-deceased by her sisters, Violet (Raymond) Schultz, Daisey (Midge) Smith, Winifred (Phil) Earley and her brothers, Howard Hooker; and Gerald (Bettye) Hooker.

Genevieve is survived by their son, Larry (Susan) Prunoske; his granddaughter, Jessica (Edward) Puma; a grandson, Aaron Prunoske; great-grandsons, Issac Puma and Gavin Puma; and siblings, Gertrude (Don) French, Norma (John) Depetris and Gail (Julie) Hooker.

A Memorial Service will be held for Louis and Genevieve on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from the Cleveland United Methodist Church, 73 Bridge Street, Cleveland, NY. The family will receive family and friends from 2 – 4 p.m. at the church following the service. A Spring Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Bernhards Bay. Arrangements are in care of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Camden, NY.
