L.C. Yount Obituary

L.C. Yount of Moore, Oklahoma, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away from this life on April 2, 2024, to begin his next great adventure beyond. L.C. was born in Oklahoma City on October 25, 1940, to Claude Lester Yount and Maggie Gertrude (Craig) Yount, both of whom have preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his brother, Daymon Yount, and sister Lila Webb.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. L.C. is survived by his wife, Kay Butts-Yount, and his children Steve Yount and wife Kelli, and Mikia Truelove and husband Ron; along with 11 grandchildren, including Kyle Yount, DJ Noblitt, Ryan Yount and wife Aspen, Kaleigh Kelley, Megan Truelove and wife Whitney, and Matthew Truelove and wife Lindsey. L.C. is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, step-daughter Cari Losli and husband Brad, step-son Sam McGill and wife Teka, his former wife and friend, Glenda Yount, and many other loved ones and loyal friends.

A successful property owner and Landlord for over 50 years, L.C. was the owner and operator of Yount Rentals. Called “the life of the party” and “king of dad jokes” by those who knew and loved him, L.C.’s fun, outgoing personality and his keen sense of humor earned him many friends and fans over the years. In his youth, he was a star athlete at Crooked Oak High School, and his natural athletic prowess and flair on the football field was eventually noticed by a recruiter for the University of Oklahoma, who offered L.C. a position playing for the Sooners. Though this was the ultimate dream-come-true, he instead chose to pursue his career, and most importantly, focus on his family. In his later years, his faith in the Lord was a focal point in his life and was an integral part of who he was. L.C. accepted Christ and was baptized at Sooner Baptist Church in Del City, and 19 years ago, faithfully re-dedicated his life to Christ.

As an avid, lifelong outdoorsman, L.C. loved to spend his free time hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He also had a bit of an adventurous streak and enjoyed traveling as often as possible. He created many amazing memories during his time in Africa, including taking an incredible African safari, and spoke fondly of a memorable vacation in Hawaii. Most of all, L.C. enjoyed the quality time he spent with the people he loved. As we reflect on a life well-lived, let us remember L.C. Yount for the humor he so freely shared with us all, the passions he pursued, and all the good things he accomplished during his time on this earth. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Moore, located at 301 NE 27th St. in Moore, OK, with Pastor Tyler Kelley officiating.
