Margaret Frances Pilcher Obituary

Margaret Frances Pilcher passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024. She was born on January 21, 1944, to Brought and Elizabeth Pilcher.


Margaret graduated from Southwest High School and Appalachian State University. She is a member of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County High School Sports Hall of Fame based on her skills as a basketball player. After teaching for a few years, Margaret became a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 18 years. Upon retiring from the Postal Service, she worked as a school bus driver for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Forsyth Country Day School. In her retirement, she enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and other sports. She also cared for her cats and enjoyed their company.


Margaret is survived by her brother, Glenn Pilcher and wife, Janice; sister, Judy Williard and husband, Mike; and her nieces and their families, Cameron Hogg and husband John and twin sons, Peter and Silas Hogg; Ellen Grooms and her children, Nathan Lyon and Allison Lyon; and Lori Bennett, and her daughters, Gabrielle Holland and husband Matt, and Carigan Bennett. Also surviving are her aunts and several cousins as well as a dear friend, Carolyn McBride.


Per Margaret’s request, no public service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
