Orrin “O.E.” Edward Baylis Obituary

Orrin Edward O.E. Baylis, 81 was called Home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 while surrounded by his loving family and pastor at his Hopewell Township home. Born in Rochester, PA, he was the son of the late Orrin and Reba Baylis. Ed was a graduate of New Brighton High School, class of 1961. He was a proud veteran of the U S Navy having served during the Vietnam War. Ed began his working career with the Pennsylvania Railroad dedicating many years of service before his retirement from Norfolk Southern Railways as a conductor. His work ethic didnt stop there, as he later joined the team at Monaca Walmart, where he worked until his second retirement in 2017. Ed was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for sports. He was an avid bowler, often seen at the lanes several days a week. His love for football was no secret to anyone who knew him and he was a proud member of the North Way Christian Community Church, Rochester. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Suzanne Plaskey Baylis, a daughter: Lori Rae (Larry) Boord and their son, Jason and a daughter, Dawn Baylis and a son, Chad Baylis. His grandchildren: Zachary Hietala, Erin Brewer (Kevin Zook), Taylor (Tyler) Kirk, Carson Brewer, and Kailey Baylis who brought him much joy. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Lillian Householder. He leaves behind his siblings, Nancy Vorderbrueggen and Karen Gacesa, and numerous nephews. Ed was also blessed with several special friends, including Bonnie Simoni, Barbara Rosensteel, and Sandy and Jim Fredericks, who will miss him dearly. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 2 pm at the North Way Christian Community Church, Rochester with Pastor Christopher White, officiating. Relatives and friends are also invited to Eds viewing on Sunday, November 12th from 2-6 pm at the SIMPSON FUNERAL CREMATION SEVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr James Meditch and the nurses and staff at AHN Hospice for the care Ed received.
