Nick ?Turk? Turkovich, Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Monaca, passed away Saturday morning, August 28, 2010, in Heritage Valley Beaver. Born July 7, 1941, in Rochester, he was the only son of the late Nick and Dorothy Turkovich, Sr. Nick attended Monaca schools with the graduating class of 1959. He retired from LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works in 1985. Nick was a social member of American Legion Post 580 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4653, both in Monaca and was an avid pool player. He leaves his wife, Barbara Hodnick Turkovich, with whom he was united in marriage on April 12, 1980; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Daniel Fennell and his granddaughter, Kirstyn Marie Fennell, of Monaca. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Nick and Mary Hodnick of Monaca and Faith Hodnick of Columbiana OH; a niece, Diana Hodnick Larson (Wayne) and great-nephew, Zachary Joseph Larson, all of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a nephew, Nicholas Hodnick (Abby) of Pittsburgh and a niece, Debbie Metalik of Georgetown. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Frank Joseph Hodnick; Turk?s in-laws, Nick and Sarah Hodnick and his two beloved poodles, Cuddles and Teddy Bear. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where prayers will be offered Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, PO Box 63, Route 18, Monaca, PA 15061.
