Douglas Joseph "Pete" Martin Obituary

Remembering Our Mechanic

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the father are one”. John 10:28-30

Douglas Joseph Martin was born June 17, 1967, to Douglas Lewis and Lovie Martin in Galveston, Texas. He was kindly known to everyone as “Pete the Mechanic.”  He accepted Christ at an early age.  He stayed true to his Christianity by devoting an hour each morning to his praise and worship until his passing.

Douglas was educated in the La Marque Independent School District.  Then Pete began working in the restaurants, and maintenance and then progressed to working in the industrial field.  Pete later followed his passion for working on automobiles to which he devoted the later years of his life till God called him home.  He loved going fishing, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.  Pete was a friendly person and never met a stranger.  He would help anyone in any way that he could, he was so full of life, and laughter and always with a smile.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Lovie; grandparents, Odette and Ralph Lewis, and Daniel Martin Sr.; uncles, Rodney Lewis, Michael Lewis, Daniel Martin Jr., and Colten Martin.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Lorna Herron; two children, Quinton Martin, and Destiny Martin; grandmother; Pearlie Martin; siblings, Chonta Love (Erice),  Theresa Solomon (Richard), and Randy Johnson; aunts, Marilyn Lee (Dennis), Leithia Antoine (Louis),  Lillian Thomas, Willie M. Jackson; uncles, Robbie Lewis (Pennie), Larry Lewis (Arlana), Gregory Lewis, Henry Davis; nephews, Arthur King (Shantell) and Kaylan Lewis; great nieces, Synia King, and Amani King; great nephew, Kash Lewis.  His death will be mourned by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
