Nicole Starr Shawnoo Obituary

It’s with respect the family of Nicole Starr Shawnoo share that she unexpectedly started her journey home on March 31, 2024, at the age of 54.

Nicole was the loving mother of Nikeeta Erica Starr Shawnoo, Grandmother to Owen, Shyla, Cameron and Liam, and partner to Kenneth George.

Nicole was a caring sister to Murray “Blake” Sr. (Judy), and Vanessa “Dish” (Bruce) and sister-in-law Greta Shawnoo. Preceded by her grandparents Edgar and Cecilia Shawnoo & Huron and Lillian George; her parents Russell “Rusty” Shawnoo & Gloria “Jennie” George and her siblings Kerwin, George, Franklin, Carter and Benny. She will be sadly missed by her nephews and nieces.

Nicole loved and cared for all her family, her aunties, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Nicole was negatively affected by the Political Elected Structure, the fear that was passed down through the ancestors did not bi-pass Nicole and her family.

Nicole only knew too well what betrayal looked and felt like, she wore her hurt with Honour. Nicole believed healing was accepted, longing for her Shawnee lineage she moved forward the best she knew how. She walked with Genuine Honor to Ottawa, holding the Ancestors Pain close to her heart.

Along Nicole’s walk in this life, she was the community Constitution Development Coordinator (2005-2008), a UXO/Unexploded Ordnance Tech 1, developed and prepared a business plan to start a Woodland Arts & Craft Emporium and was invited to Washington D.C. to participate in a conference for her poem that was published.

Nicole succumbed to her paralyzing addiction, leaving her legacy of strength and endurance for the many traumas she carried.
