Gene McCurrie Obituary

Gene McCurrie 76 of Russellville passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 8, 1947, in the Gumlog Community to the late Pete and Johnnie Mccurrie (Duvall).

He was a retired employee of C3 Farms where he worked on the farm bailing hay and working with cattle. He was a Christian and a member of Bells Chapel Assembly of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his mother-in-law and father-in-law, J.T. and Margaret Freeman, and Elzy Roy Young; sisters, Vida Davis, and Johnnie Murl Shelton; brother-in-law, Spider Shelton; sister-in-law, Teresa Holbrook; and best friend, Junior Ross.

Here to carry on his legacy is his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Brenda McCurrie; their children, Carmon McCurrie and wife Audrey, Eugenia McCurrie, and Matthew McCurrie and wife Clarrissa; grandchildren, Zachary Steen (Gabrielle), Jake McCurrie, Reagan Steen, Dylan McCurrie, Maison Gordon (Cody), and Seth Hankins; great-grandchildren, Liam, and Kennedy Gordon, and another great-grandson on the way (Due in June 2024); his loving fur baby, Libby; and lifelong friend, Charlene Ross.

A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, at Lemley Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 5, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Chad Duvall and Rev. Robert Heflin officiating. The burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

The pallbearers are his grandsons, Zachary Steen, Jake McCurrie, and Dylan McCurrie, along with close family, Scott Duvall, Michael Ross, Joe Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers are Carmon McCurrie, Matthew McCurrie, Cody Gordon, and Jake Bradley.
