JAMES FRANCIS MORAN Obituary

 

MORAN, JAMES F., 91 of Coventry, passed away at the Alpine Nursing Home in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion T. (Lamorge) Moran in 2007. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James T. and Katherine A. (Ellery) Moran.


James had a dedicated 43 year career as a Produce Manager with the former Almacs Supermarkets before retiring. James was an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Coventry where he was a Eucharistic Minister for many years, a member of the Holy Name Society, and he volunteered in many capacities to help his beloved Parish. In his early years, James was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Johnston. He also was a member of the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge. James enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots; and drinking a Budweiser.


He was the father of Karen T. Moran-Smith and her husband Mark of Greene, Nancy A. Finkelberg and her husband Steven of Warwick, Mary K. Danis and her husband Ronald of West Warwick, and the late Carol A. Moran. He was the grandfather of Kyle Smith, Shannon (Smith) Kane and her husband Jonathan, Ashley Wilbur, Tayla Wilbur and Jenna Danis. James was the brother of Patricia Broscious, Mary McDougall, Shirley Lucia, and the late Catherine Hallberg and William Moran. Later in life, James was briefly married to the late Elizabeth M. Loughlin-Moran.


His funeral will be held on Friday morning, April 5, 2024 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(Rte.95/Exit 18/Rte.3), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Interment to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich. Visiting hours are Thursday evening, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
