William J. Pfau, age 84, passed away on December 18, 2023, in Marcellus, NY.. He was born in Yonkers, NY and moved to Syracuse, NY at the age of five. Bill graduated from Northfield Mount Herman Preparatory School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His first job was in Tucson, AZ, building Titan II Missile Silos. On returning to Syracuse, he worked with O'Brien and Gere Engineers for 22 years designing processes for Water and Sewage

Treatment Plants. He retired from Over and Under Piping, Auburn, NY


Bill was an athlete and outdoorsman. Locally he played golf with the Architects and Engineers League and played Box Lacrosse at the Onondaga Nation. He was an accomplished skier and his love for travel took him all across the US and Europe. During summers he loved spending time with his family, water skiing and sailing on Skaneateles Lake.


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia “Gìnny”, their son Jered Pfau and granddaughter Morgan, as well as his brother Frank and sister-in-law Tina Pfau and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was

predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ann Pfau, brother James Pfau and sister-in-law JoAnne Pfau.


Calling hours will be Monday April 15 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus, from 1-2:30 pm with a service to follow at 2:30 pm.


In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be given to Hospice of Central New York & Finger Lakes, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088
