Ernest "Ernie" Lee Pence Obituary

Ernest “Ernie” L. Pence, 85, of Elkton, passed away from this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1939 in Little Fork near Sugar Grove, WV and was the son of the late Albert B. Pence and C. Virginia Mitchell Pence.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John H. Pence (Betty) and a sister, Mary Lou Hensley (Gary). He was the last surviving member of his family.


On May 12, 1961, he married Louise Nesselrodt who survives. He is also survived by a son, Joseph Pence and wife, Laura of Mt. Solon, Va; daughter, Deborah Pence of Chesterfield, Va; he was Pappy to granddaughter, Samantha Pence (Chris Aldridge) of Davidson, North Carolina and grandson, Robert Pence (Candi Morris) of Newburgh, Indiana.


Ernie was a 1958 graduate of Montevideo High School. He worked as a supervisor for 7-up Bottling Co. for 33 years as well as a few other places until he had to go on disability. He read his bible faithfully and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Elkton.


A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Mt. Olivet Christian Church with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the church prior to the service.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet Christian Church “Need Fund”, 38 Mt. Olivet Church Rd., Elkton, Va 22827.
