Bettie Wallingsford Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Bettie S. Wallingsford, of Gilbert, will be 12:00PM Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial, Winnsboro, with Rev. Kevin Bates officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until time-of-service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bettie was born December 29, 1940, in Holly Ridge, LA and passed from this life on March 30, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 83. She was generous and helpful and was a very multi-talented and creative individual. She had many hobbies and skills, including hunting, fishing, crochet knitting, sewing, quilting, making jewelry, painting, bowling, playing softball, along with many more. A lot of her interests centered around her family and her home, such as feeding and watching the hummingbirds outside, caring for her chickens and rabbits, gardening her flowers and vegetables, as well as baking and cooking for her family and friends. Bettie was quite the “historian” and was well-known for her storytelling to anyone who would take the time to listen and enjoy. Most of all, her passion and heart were for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved very deeply. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Wallingsford; her parents, J.D. and Reba Sharbono; one son, Tracy Wallingsford; and son-in-law, Ronnie Dubuisson.

Survivors include her daughter, Reba Dubuisson of Ponchatoula; her daughter-in-love, Shelia Wallingsford of Gilbert; one brother, Dewey Sharbono, Jr. of Bastrop; three grandchildren, D.J. Dubuisson and wife, Mandi, Lacey Dubuisson, all of Ponchatoula, Dakota Nielsen and husband, Jason of Mangham; three great-grandchildren, Layson Cade, Haughton, and Oaklee James; her fur-baby, Max; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in memory of the beloved mother to the American Cancer Society.
