Sylvia C Henricks Obituary

Sylvia Henricks passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 19. Born April 6th 1922, she was just shy of her 95th birthday. She was born in Dayton Ohio to Wilson R. Scott and Mabel Mae Peters Scott. Her parents and a brother, W.R. Scott predecease her. Sylvia graduated from the University of Dayton in 1942, and married Marvin Henricks, a handsome seminary student “who promised to make her laugh” on December 25, 1943. Sylvia was a Preachers wife in Winnebago Minnesota, San Pedro California, and Bethlehem, Connecticut. They settled for good in Indianapolis on six acres in Franklin Township, the Ash Grove. Marvin taught Sociology at then Indiana Central College and Sylvia worked in the College Library. Marvin passed away in 1988. Their four children, John (KIP), Tom (Judy) Ann (Ted) Hansen and Ted (Lisa) survive. Sylvia lived a long and happy life as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and as a published writer and columnist, a photographer, weaver, artist, gardener, a reader, a Scrabble enthusiast, and a darned good cook. In 1976, she helped found the Franklin Township Historical Society to which she was devoted and active for the rest of her life. In addition to her children, Sylvia loved her eight grandchildren, Lizzie, Katie, David, Griffin, Samantha, Ryan, Chelsea, and Molly, and her many friends.
