Bill M. Stumper Obituary

Bill M. Stumper passed away on March 24, 2024 at the age of 86. He was a wonderful husband and father who loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of his heart and was active in his church, Mountain Creek Church.

Bill was born on April 7, 1937 in Vancouver, Washington to Mat and Catherine Stumper. He was raised in Kinzua, Oregon until the age of 17 when he joined the Army. During his Army service, he served in Germany as a cook with NATO forces at the height of the Cold War and returned home in 1958.

He later moved to Portland, Oregon and in 1971, he met Faydene Currin. They were married on December 23rd, 1971 and had been married for 52 years at the time of his death. Their son Benjamin was born in 1974. Bill worked as a marinefitter in the Port of Portland shipyards, then worked as a welder’s helper on various pipelines. These were some of his proudest times, as he dreamt of working on the pipelines.

Then in the early 1990’s, he became a journeyman pipefitter and worked in the building trades until he retired. All in all, he would have been a member of United Association Local 290 for 50 years this November.

He is preceded in death by his father Mat Stumper and mother Catherine Stumper. He is survived in death by his wife Faydene Stumper, son Benjamin Stumper (wife Lena Stumper) and grandchildren Hannah and Caleb Stumper; along with siblings Gary Stumper, Lori Wood and Larry Stumper.
