Bobby Julian, 95, of Spurgeon passed away on March 24, 2024. He was born October 28, 1928 to Ruth and Jake Julian and they preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; son, Joe; daughter-in-law, Debbie, and siblings, Eva Jean, Maxine, Barney, Kenny, Jim, and Jack. Bob attended Spurgeon High School, graduating in 1946 with the largest class in history of the school. Bob retired from Old Ben Coal Company. He was the oldest living member of the United Mine Workers Local 5179.

Bob’s hobbies included gardening up to the age of 90, working puzzles, watching Cardinal baseball and IU basketball, eating lunch with friends at The Trading Post and Taylor’s II, and spending time with family. He volunteered for many years taking care of and improving Jordan Memorial Park in Spurgeon. He attended Spurgeon General Baptist Church. Bob’s greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. He was active in all of their lives, and he will be dearly missed.

Bobby is survived by his sons, Larry (Sheila) and Mike Julian; daughter-in-law, Pam Julian; sister, Peg (Joe); grandchildren, Claudia (Gary), Chad (Charity), Melissa (Jeff), Stephen (Kristy), Nathan (Terri), Adam (Maria), and Jonathan (Bethany); great-grandchildren, Austin (Demi), Presley (Sam), Kennedy (Shanda), Ty (Sarah), Madison (Dillon), Carter (Kaci), Morgan, Brody, Mason, Ian, Mollie, Micah, Oscar, and Elliott; great-great-grandchildren, Lennon, Britton, Violet, Zillionna, Zeplynn, and Zayden.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amber Manor, Dr. Keepes, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and professionalism.

Funeral Service 11:30 a.m. (EST) Friday, March 29, 2024, at Spurgeon General Baptist Church, 1165 5th St. Spurgeon, IN. Pastor Marc Grimes will be officiating, and burial will follow at Spurgeon Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 (EST) on Thursday, March 28, 2024, and on Friday, 10:30 a.m. (EST) until service time, all services are at the church.
