Lane Smith Woodard Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Lane Smith Woodard, age 74, of Bossier City, LA will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Springhill Methodist Church, Springhill, LA with Darryl Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Springhill Methodist Church, Springhill, LA.

Lane was born on March 19, 1950, to Robert Charles and Lucille Wooster Smith in Springhill, LA and moved from this earth to join her Heavenly Father and Living Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2024 in Shreveport, LA.

Lane loved her wonderful children and adored her thirteen grandchildren. She devoted and committed her younger years to personally educating John, Sarah, Seth, and Mark in their schooling and, more importantly, building their spiritual lives. She found joy in seeing them make that same commitment to her grandchildren.

Lane enjoyed our annual beach trips that gathered her entire clan for fun, games, and laughter, and since moving back to Bossier City, her weekly gathering with siblings. She even found a way to get in a (almost) monthly bridge game with friends.

Lane graduated from Springhill High School in 1968 and St. Olaf College in 1971 and later earned a Master's Degree from LSU.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald Woodard; three sons, John Woodard and wife Amy, Seth Woodard, and wife Aimee', and Mark Woodard and wife Tamara; daughter, Sarah Carson and husband Phillip; four grandsons, Jake Woodard, Luke Woodard, Ben Woodard, and Micah Carson; nine granddaughters, Abby Woodard, Addie Carson, Hannah Woodard, Lucy Woodard, Caroline Woodard, Lily Woodard, Penelope Woodard, Lois Woodard, and Holly Woodard; two sisters, Nancy Stinson and Katherine Ashley and husband Kenny; two brothers, Randy Smith and Charles Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Carolyn Sexton and husband Larry; and her Brazilian sister, Terri Botelho.

Mrs. Woodard was preceded in death by her father, Robert Charles Smith and mother, Lucille W Smith.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jake and Luke Woodard; nephews: Cliff New, Dr. Patrick Sexton, Dr. Robert Smith, and Robert ("Bud") Stinson. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: Benjamin Woodard and Micah Carson.

Donations, if desired, can be made to the Springhill Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Dallas, or The American Cancer Society.
