Sonny (Ira) Martin Charboneau passed away Thursday morning, August 28, 2014, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born September 17, 1944, in Wagoner, OK to Loyal and Doris Charboneau. He spent his school years in Delano, CA and Wagoner, OK where he completed his education as part of the great Class of ’63. Sonny and Reba (Casebolt) were married August 3, 1965, in Wagoner, OK, building 49 years of marriage and beautiful memories. Sonny was an avid bowhunter and fisherman, known for his contribution to the wildlife community. In 2011, he received the Tabor Meyers Award for his dedication. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball, and also ran track. Sonny could be described as an “all around athlete”. Occassional poker games with the boys were known to bring a huge smile Sonny’s face and shining blue eyes. He enjoyed working almost as much as fishing and hunting. Sonny was an aircraft welder for 49 years and was employed by BizJet in Tulsa, OK until his passing. Sonny was a wonderful provider for his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He put others first and himself, last. Sonny was a member of The International Order of Odd Fellows, The Rebekah Lodge, Pope & Young Club, B.A.S.S., Bowhunting Council of Oklahoma, and other various hunting and fishing organizations. Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Loyal Charboneau; sister, Sharon Suniga, and twin grandsons, Matthew and Michael Moss. He is survived by his mother, Doris Charboneau of Wagoner; his wife, Reba; daughters, Kelly Moss and husband, Mike, of Peggs, OK, and Shelly Lollar and husband, Dwight, of Van, TX; three grandchildren, Michaela Moss, Harrison Lollar, and Grayson Lollar; brothers, Jerry Charboneau and wife, Hettie, of Wagoner, OK and Charles Charboneau and wife, Lisa, of Wagoner, OK; two sisters, Glenda Lomar of Florida and Tammy Chambers of Bakersfield, CA; aunts, cousins, along with many nieces and nephews. Sonny also had many lifelong friends in both the surrounding area and in California. Sonny will be remembered for his generosity, good-will, love of nature and animals, honesty, extreme kindness, and the value of friendship.
