Timothy M. Fitzgerald, 68, passed away on March 1, 2024. Timothy was born in Paterson and raised in Fair Lawn, NJ. He attended Saint Therese’s school in Paterson, followed by Paramus Catholic HighSchool.

As a teenager, Tim found the love of his life, Janet. They shared a love of bowling and spent much of their time at Route 4 Bowling in Fair Lawn. They married in 1978 and moved to Pompton Lakes shortly thereafter. Tim spent his career in retail, working at Vinkara Floors in Pompton Lakes, and eventually taking ownership of the business. He truly enjoyed going to work everyday and was known and loved by many in the community.

When Tim wasn’t working, he loved spending time with Jan in Atlantic City. He loved the beach and playing his favorite slot machines. Tim was an avid coin and sports memorabilia collector. He loved cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Yankees and Cowboys. His Sundays were spent watching the Nascar Race, and there were many local races he attended in person. He loved classic rock and had many good times attending concerts with Jan.

Tim was a devoted father and couldn’t have been more proud of his only daughter, Shannon. He was a loving grandfather and cherished his grandson, Cole and granddaughter, Sofie. He enjoyed spending time with them and letting them explore his store. Tim is survived by his loving wife Janet (Jan), daughter Shannon and her husband Jeral Roque, grandchildren Cole (9) and Sofie (6), and his sister Patricia (Pat) and spouse Bett Collett. He was predeceased by his mother Geraldine Orton, and stepfather Gordon Orton who raised him since childhood.

Visitation will be held at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, on Wednesday March 6th from 4:00-8:00 pm.
