Doris Talbert Cunningham Obituary

Doris Talbert Cunningham was born December 5, 1940, the beloved daughter of the late Jero and Effie Sibert Talbert.  She was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

“Jenny” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of McCormick County and was a 1966 graduate of Mims High School.  She was employed for Matthew Mills from which she retired after 35 years of dedicated service.  After retirement she worked for Millen for six (6) years.

Mrs. Cunningham was a faithful and longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior and Shape Note Choirs.

She had a contagious smile and loved to laugh. Her favorite phrase was “Aggravating”. Her hobbies included watching wrestling and soap operas. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Lee, John L., and Claude Talbert.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories are her loving husband, Charlie W. Cunningham of the home; son, Ricky R. (Alice Steven) Cunningham of Plum Branch, SC; daughter and caregiver, Deborah Cunningham of the home; brother, LN Talbert of McCormick, SC; sisters, Effie (Alvin) Lane, and Mary Talbert both of Greenwood, SC, Mildred Burnett of Augusta, GA, Lucille (George) Searles of Buffalo, NY, and Katherine Stevens of Washington, DC; sisters-in-law, Delois McManus of Edgefield, SC,  Zelena Terry of Philadelphia, PA; stepbrothers-in-law, Charlie Moton, and Lonnie Moton;  her special caregiver, Brenda Carroll; and a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
