Patricia Botbyl, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, after a courageous 13-year battle with cancer. With her devoted husband of 62 years, Peter, by her side, Patricia's last words were a testament to their enduring love: "I'll love you forever."
Born in Paterson, Patricia lived a life marked by love, resilience, and faith. She leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Patricia was a loving mother to two children, a caring wife, and a cherished friend.
For many years, Patricia served as a dedicated bookkeeper for Fritz & Cooper Oil in Riverdale, where her attention to detail and strong work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her commitment to excellence in her professional life was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and faith.
A longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, Patricia found solace and strength in her spirituality. Her unwavering faith was a source of inspiration to those around her, providing comfort during challenging times. In her final moments, she turned to prayer, and shared her faith with her family.
Beyond her professional and religious life, Patricia enjoyed simple pleasures that brought her joy. She had a green thumb and found solace in tending to her garden, cultivating vibrant blooms that mirrored the beauty she brought into the lives of those around her. Patricia also found joy in the quiet moments spent working on crossword puzzles, showcasing her sharp intellect and love for words.
In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her two children, Peter Botbyl and his wife Stacey, and Margaret Carusillo and her husband Louis; as well as her grandchildren, Peter and Gavin Botbyl, and Lou and Jessica Carusillo. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Patricia Botbyl will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the enduring love she shared with her family, especially her husband. With him, she shared the greatest of all love stories. Patricia and Peter lived a beautiful life together, sharing in all its beauty since their days at Hawthorne High School.
Patricia's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Patricia's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes, on March 1, 2024 at 10 a.m.. Friends and family are invited to attend and share in the celebration of this remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love that she so freely gave throughout her life.
