Adela A. Loge Obituary

Adela A. Loge, 82, passed away at her family home on May 10, 2018. She was born to Karl and Ella (Young) Rutter in Toledo, Ohio on July 3, 1935. Graduate of Waite High School, class of 1953, Adela went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Toledo. Fresh out of college she taught 3 years for the Toledo Public Schools, Oakdale and East Side Central Elementary schools. On November 30, 1958 she married Edmund Loge. After raising four children as a full time Mom, she returned to work as the Lead Preschool Teacher at the East Toledo Family Center. She worked 20 years before retiring in 1999. As a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adela was a faithful servant of God. Adela taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, worked with Lady’s Aid, VBS, the after school program, various other mission projects and served as Superintendent of the Sunday school. She walked the neighborhood for the March of Dimes and for many years was an active Waite High Band Booster Parent. Adela volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America and even spent a few summers as Camp Secretary for Camp Miakonda’s Cub Scout Day Camp. She was always finding new friends and joy in service. Adela had many hobbies reading, embroidery and baking were three of her favorites. Her lemon meringue and rhubarb pies were famous and sought after at family and church events. Summer lake vacations with the family were treasured by her. Adela knew how to love family, friends, and even strangers, unconditionally. She welcomed all she knew with an open heart. Adela is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Edmund; sister, Marcia (Tom) Copeland; children, Mary (Rick) Taylor, Brenda (Ernest) Savage, Timothy Loge, David (Dee Dee) Loge; grandchildren, Rachel Yoder Campbell, Brandon (Kimberley) Yoder, Dale and Zach Savage, Allison, Leighton, Noah and Reese Loge, Fallon Belville; great grandchildren, Angelo, Evan, Caleb, Makalya, Makenzie, Olivia and Brandon Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Monday, May 14 from 2-8 pm. The family will also greet friends at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 106 W. Plumer St., Toledo, Ohio 43605 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Adela’s name are asked to consider Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
