John Martin Fox (Jack)

September 17th, 1935 - February 14th, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Jack, who was born on September 17th, 1935, in Barrhead, Alberta. Jack is predeceased by his mother and father, David and Evelyn Fox and his sisters Pat, Joan, and Lonette.

Jack is survived by Mieke, his wife of 55 years; children, Tammy, Noelani, Andrea (Matt), Jessica, Martin, and Clinton (Gemma); grandchildren, Jessica, Tanya, Madison, Sydney, Peter, Juliana, Isabel, Thomas, Aubrey, and Lochlan, great-grandchildren Hayden, and Avery, and his sisters, Janet, and Corliss.

Spanning over three decades, radio listeners and colleagues knew him as Foxy John, a legendary radio DJ and country musician. Jack lived a full life with his wife and children in multiple cities, taking the kids on camping trips and driving back east in a school bus to visit relatives. Jack was the heart of our family. He was a man of fewer words in his last decade, but his eyes and smile said everything he needed to. He cherished family time, especially watching his grandchildren grow and visiting his granddogs.

During his long life, Jack enjoyed painting mountains and landscapes, playing guitar, reading, and travelling, especially to Maui with Mieke.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (open house style) at a family residence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
